Is A Portable Stereo Recorder Worth the Money?
When it comes to shopping for personal recorders, you are going to find that there are a lot of options out there. You want a portable recorder that is handy and of high quality. So, when we heard about the Zoom H2 Handy Portable Stereo Recorder, we were intrigued, especially since the words portable and handy were right in the name of the device. The idea behind this device is that it will give you stereo recording and that it will be very easy to use. Admittedly, this could come in handy at musical performances, conferences, seminars, college courses, podcasting and rehearsals. However, is the sound quality good enough?
When it comes to the sound quality of the H2, we were pleasantly surprised. The H2 actually provides good recording quality, no matter what you are recording. We even tested it with voices and instruments and both sounded great.
There Are Four Mics
Now, you weren't sure about why the Zoom H2 Handy Portable Stereo Recorder has four microphones. After all, most of the top recorders out on the market only have two microphones. Apparently, the four microphones allow for the ultimate 360 degree recording. There should make for some interesting scenarios.
Is It Easy to Use?
Ok, so the Zoom H2 Handy Portable Stereo Recorder sounds good, but is it truly handy? That is, is it really easy to use? The fact is, the only thing you need to do to start recording with the H2 is push a button. That's relieving since most devices make it pretty difficult to just start recording right away. In fact, some of the devices out there can be pretty complicated. With the H2, one button handles recording, and then there are controls on the side and an intuitive user interface that allows you to set the levels you want, press record and you're recording. It's that easy.
Is it Convenient?
Well, we have established that the H2 does indeed sound good and it is very easy to use, but is it really as portable as it claims to be, even considering the four microphones that it has? You will learn for yourself that the H2 is actually only 4 ounces in weight which means it will have no problem fitting into your pocket. You will find that it also comes with a USB cable, a microphone clip adapter, earbuds, a tripod stand, an AC adapter, a stereo cable and even an extra memory card.
When we first used the Zoom H2, we were skeptical because we've used portable recorders before and most of them were shoddy at best. Luckily, we didn't have that problem with the H2. It offers great sound, 360 degree recording, it's easy to use and it fits in your pocket. Apparently, the handy and portable are good names for this surprisingly new recorder that is sure to surprise anyone who uses it.
